Just a little rant. Don't mind me. Feel free to flame me.... In fact, I invite you to flame me..
ProBoards discovered I am NOT going to turn off my Pop-Up Blocker so they decide "Well, instead of a Pop-up window, let's place a hidden floating IFRAME on top of EVERY SINGLE PAGE making the user have to click the Windows X to close it! Yeah! Let's be ***holes!" And since I can't live like that, I can't spend much time here. Thanks, ProBoards. Those stupid floaters wreak havok on peoples Back caches. And making them look like Windows is just plain STUPID. Like a Mac user is going to fall for them.
Enjoy your pop-up ads. Sory, but I just can't do it anymore. Until I find out a way to block Iframes. I will not click on any ad that I am not being forced at gunpoint to click.
Maybe I'll visit once in a while. But I will not give in to ProBoards little tricks.
For those who do not know, if you have a pop-up Blocker on, every page will get an embeded floating IFRAME right in the middle of the page. Forcing you to click the X to close it. With the words "About this Window". If you click that a message pops up telling you that to get rid of the IFRAME you must turn off the Pop-up Blocker software so they can bombard you with pop-up windows.
To that I say "No Damn Way." I think it is immoral and I will not stand for it. Infringing on peoples rights to not view advertisements. TiVo does it. Browsers do it. It's the way things are. Flame me if you will but until just the other day all it gave you was a dialog with a message telling you to turn it off. Easy to get passed by hitting the Enter or Return key. Now they've gone too far. I don't care if they ARE hosting it for free. There's an ad on every page. There's no reason to use Pop-up Windows too. ProBoards seems to be the only site I've found utilizing this sneaky little tactic. Let's hope there aren't too many more in the future. Pop-up Blockers, especially ones built into the Browser like Safari here are NOT going to go away. People keep them on to fight this stupid fad and aren't going to turn them off just because one site decides to hit them back.
DOOM Depot is a great forum but this is too much.
Flame me if you wish. Lock this thread. I just had to get the message out. They've gone too far this time.
This goes for The Ultimate Nintendo Message Board which is also hosted by ProBoards too.
I realize I could pay the $7 and get no ads at all.. but I don't have to. So I won't.
Now I'm off to find a way to get Safari to ignore the IFRAME tag as well.
