Oh no, my friend, there are many other differences in E1M1, such as the viewports in the start area has a height of 4 instead of 8, the zigzag room is bigger in scale, the slime around the blue armor outside is closer to the zigzag room instead of in the middle, the first hallway after the start of the map has a step leading up to it, the pillars in the green armor room are gone, the ledge where the imp is is slightly lower than usual.

You're right, there are more diferences, like the altered barriers in the last room before the exit. What i mentioned was an missing switch, a thing that make differences in gameplay. That make that level more straight from the start to exit. For the heights, i'm not sure if there are differences in the height. Don't forget that the designers of the most console conversions had to resize the most textures and sprites for limitations of the hardware. But hey, the only thing that count is that the rebuild levels have the same kickass feeling as the originals. Thats of course only my humble opinion. Its your right to have another. :-)

No console version I've played yet has really disappointed me, except maybe the 32X version...

You did never play the 3DO DooM. ;D In fact, i havn't play it by myself, cause its unplayable. If you compare both versions, you will love the 32X version. Hehe.

Well, I already know what you said about the framerate. What I meant was in terms of level design, texture mapping, that sort of stuff.
Hell, even the SNES version wasn't TOO God awfully bad...

If you happen to look in Entryway, all the walls and width are the same, compared in the automap to the pc's automap. But through the gameplay in PSX, everything looks wider. I'll show you a example: here in the PC version everything looks narrow but in the PSX, everything's is stretched:

There's another little difference between PC & PSX version. UNHOLY CATHEDRAL, there's no secret nukage pit on the north west corner of the map on PSX... And of course the problem with the yellow key... (I've spend hours to try open this f****** yellow secret door !) ;D
But I guess this ain't enough to redraw it.

The PSX is more squashed from the top and bottom.
The PSX also has this weird texture warping effect...Stand near a door, and then face it so that it is to the left or right of you. If you get it right, you can see the texture warp and stretch, even seeing the door as if it had the same texture twice on it, but severely squashed.
/me ends rant

Hehe, go and grab a real PSX. They are really cheap now, DooM PSX too. Why do you want to play it on crappy Emu, that crashes randomly, when you can play it on the original platform. ;D

The emu crashes randomly? Virtual Game Station runs it perfectly (Bleem does not). The only problem I have with emulating PSX Doom is that the music is a bit off (some sounds in the foreground instead of the background and vice versa). Still better on the PSX though. And about the texture warping, it's BARELY noticable in Doom. Heck, you have to really concentrate to see it, and even then it's hard to see. If you want to see texture warping, play PSX Powerslave. That game rocks anyways, even with texture warping.

Speaking of emulators, get MAME...
(That had nothing to do with this thread; just thought I'd bring it up)
