This might fit more in the rants section, but it has to do with DOOM, so I decided to post it here.
Anyway, the one thing that really frosts me about this new proposal for a DOOM movie is the fact that they want to keep it down to a PG-13 rating. Now, is that really messed up or what? (sorry for my lack of vulgarities, but I'm posting at school right now)
To me, PG-13 = BAAAAAAD....I can't imagine how they will pull this off effectively, if at all. The rating alone will take away the feel of the original game: the suspense, horror, gore, and action. Even if it'll be based on DOOM 3, it would have an even better scare factor. But I hear the whole FPS element will be taken away (which can be a good thing if you think about it). Overall, however, I'm a little upset at the proposed rating. I might be happier if in the end it came out to be rated "R".
I'll still see it, but only because it'll have the DOOM label slapped on it. Other than that, I won't expect much out of it. To be on the safe side, I won't buy any snacks when I go see it to rule out any possibility of vomiting all over the other movie-goers. Now that I think of it, will the theaters really be full or not? I don't know of that many DOOMers now nor many when the movie will come out.
We'll just have to wait that 15 months and find out. Until then, I anticipate this movie with caution.

Warner Bros + Doom = Cacodemon Manuer on the bottom of a Cyberdemon's Hoof.
I don't like it, I don't like it at all. When I hear Warner Bros, I think Mario, Space Jam, and Batman. And out of those three, Batman and Mario may have awesome sets and special effects (for their times), but the story line was cheesy as hell. Speaking of which, I might have missed it, but is the DooM movie going to be live-action, or another animation? Because unless it's TRUE anime, I don't want it. They can keep it. Unless it is as good as Vampire Hunter D: Bloodlust, mixing awesome artist talents with computer generated stuff, It'll suck.
The only movies I even still watch that Warner Bros. made is Twister and Mario. Yes, Mario. Why? I grew up when that was a cool thing, it's a small reminder, a little reflection of when a kid could truely be a kid, unlike nowadays when so much is expected of you. And Twister I just loved, because as you all know now, if You saw my storm pics, I love tornados and the weather that brings them.
To be honest, I was hoping New Line Cinema would try to buy the rights and make a movie. They created Spawn and Mortal Kombat (ignoring Annihlation), and those ones were awesome. Mortal Kombat, for what it's worth, was a good movie actually. I mean, they had all the important characters, they kept to the storyline without going off track, and then even though the battles were short lived, for the short time they existed they were awesome (Hence Johny Cage vs. Scorpion). And I don't even have to talk about Spawn. Yes, there are those who hate it, because it went off the comic storyline a little, and everything happened fast, but if you just look at it, as a movie, not for what it came from, it was a good movie aswell. Spawn 2 will luckily be stictly Rated-R. Something I wish Doom would do. Anyways, back to Dark Nexus for me...Synthetic Night awaits.

It hasn't been said on whether it was going to be animated or live-action. I'm guessing live-action.
If so, a lot of money'll have to be spent on it.

Just hoping that it doesn't end up like shit like battlefield earth. (i'm assuming that n0one likes it, cuz i've seen it and it's shit).
If it's live-action i wonder who they'll have for the actor for doomguy. Swartzenegger? Stallone? Kurt Russell? They must NOT have Brendan Fraser (but noone's that stupid).

If it's live-action i wonder who they'll have for the actor for doomguy. Swartzenegger? Stallone? Kurt Russell? Hopfully none of those old farts will play him. I'm guessing some new guy will play him (hey, most VG movies contain people nobody's heard of anyway.) Personally, while he's still an old fart like the others, I was actually kinda hoping for Tom Berenger to play him, but that was back in 1998 when I found an article in an OPM (Official PS magazine) entitled "From Bytes to Box-Office". He was the only rumored actor mentioned. As for the company, originally it was supposed to be Columbia/Tri-Star.

Some people say that Bruce Willis might play a good doom guy, but then again he's becoming a bit of an old fart like the ones that i've mentioned.
Maybe the doom movie will be like the quake movie (search for quake the movie on google)

Bruce Willis just doesn't fit the persona at all, IMO.

You mean this movie after much huffing and puffing is actually going to happen?
WHat gets me is the the fact anyone complains about PG13 or any other rating when the fact is should they be faithful to the game the movie would be the most blasphemous anti-religious affair and probably unreleasable. We're talking the legions of hell, as instructed by Lucifer, charging and killing everyone on earth and symbolising their intent all over the place. Now as much as I'd *love* to see a movie doing this, execs just wouldn't let it go through.
Nonetheless, the violent side being abandoned is preposterous. There's no point in making it if there's not violence. That would be like making Resident Evil but removing all the main characters and the mansion and making it dull and stupid with uncharismatic characters with all the charm and personality of a wet sock.
That would never work...
(Truth is if they actually release this at all I'll be amazed. It's not exactly the most movie-worthy story is it.)

just because it is possibly going to be PG-13 (it isn't set in stone, that is just what they say they are shooting for). doesn't mean it can't do the serise justice. they could use greenish blood for the zombies and deamons, etc..., there really doesn't have to be much cursing (if much dialoge at all) and there doesn't have to be any nudity in the movie either, which are the main reasons why movies receive a higher than PG-13 raiting.
personaly i think they should make the movie almost entirely from a 1st person perspective, with little dialoge, and we should hear the thoughts of the doom guy (who i think should remain nameless throught the movie).

The Doom Movie was cancelled.Schwarzenegger was gonna play the marine. But now, they're making a movie on the Macintosh version of Wolfenstein 3D.Instead of calling the movie "Wolfenstein : 2nd Encounter" it's gonna be like this:
2nd encounter is : Wolfenstein - The First Encounter 3rd encounter is : Wolfenstein - The Second Encounter
(In case you were wondering, Schwarzenegger is going to be B.J. Blazcowicz in this movie.)
I saw a teaser, but I can't remember where.
TEASER --------------------------------------------- BJ:*enters the first boss level from 2nd encounter*
Hans Grosse:Gutentag!
BJ:Uh oh.........*takes out a chaingun*Psyche!*rips through Hans' armor and kills him*
Hans:*falls to the ground*
*"The Trigger Happy Song" by wierd al starts playing*
BJ:*looks towards exit* -----------------------------------------------------------------

You serious? Then again no doom movie is better than a crap one (it could have been good, but very unlikely)

So.. There was a difference between the PC an Mac Wolfenstein's? Geeze.. I remember when I first read there was gonna BE a DOOM Movie. I was in Art Class with my friend showing him a Nintendo Power with an article about the new DOOM 64 game coming out. Of course, that was 2 years before it actually came out. Still, I liked Super Mario Bros. The Movie. Maybe I woulda liked DOOM. Whatever.
