Yo, my name's Sambo 9000.
Is it just me or is the playstation version of Hell Keep the most kickass and scary level! It's so much better than the short little PC E3M1. It has the skin-walls with wierd guts coming outta the walls (Nope I don't think these textures were on the PC DooM, there are some pretty similiar things, but theres one tile where some kind of body organ is hanging out of the top of the skin, plastering blood over the wall. Anyway I loved this Map so much, I thought maybe we could remake it to replace E3M1 as a WAD. Thing is, I've never tried map editing really, I only do graphics and sounds. I would do music (I have made some DooM PSX + N64 midis but my midi2mus dont wanna work, cud anyone convert it for me?) So anyone up for makin Hell Keep?
Also I'm workin on some nice DooM skins which I'll tell ya all about soon.

You sound like me. If only I knew how to map... I've wanted the PSX Maps ported over forever (especially the exclusives, like Hell Gate, Hell Keep, Twilight Descends, and Threshold of Pain). All I've gotten so far are Spawning Vats and Redemption Denied (on my site of course! . So anyone up to the task? Simplifying the maps will be the simple part. Making the new ones will be tricky. Zdoom would be perfect, since it has colored lighting and more.

I found some files with .wad extensions on the PSX DooM CD, but Wintex and DooM don't seem to understand them. There's a .wad file for every map, and a doom.wad file. Maybe somoene might be able to descipher the code, maybe even make a port that understands the playstation's lighting effects and stuff!

I have those wads, but gave up on them. It seems every level has a wad file for the map, and img files for sprites and textures. No clue how to use them though. I used to have them on the FTP for anyone who wants to take a crack at them, but took them down for copyright reasons.

If I knew exactly what it looked like, I'd give it a shot, but I really have no clue at all.

I can try and find an online map of it for you if you like? It's on the GBA version as well, but the textures are slightly different (mainly the gut thing on the wall is white, which is dumb)

Archvile: I can send you the wads if you'd like. The rar is 40 megs. All I can say is good luck.
