Well, just got the PSX Doom MP3s down to 32k/s without losing that much quality. (I'm using Lame, what else?) You can hear the difference in Winamp, but they still sound awesome in the game! This means the music wads will be 1/4 the size for those modem people, and I can afford to throw them onto Doom2.net without killing my server space over there. I will be keeping the bigger wads on the public FTP (when I finish setting it up) for those who still want them, but they won't be on the website. More stuff to come for the update, but had to get the whole Music Wads thing off of my chest.

No prob. Here's the sizes so far:
Doom 1 - 37.5 Megs (all levels done, story, title and intermission left)
Doom 2 - 15.7 Megs (maps 1-12 done only)
It seems that the ambient tracks compress very well. HOWEVER, the music tracks like the redbook audio and the mp2s sound like shit at such a low bitrate. Still, with the bulk of the music super compressed it'll be MUCH smaller.
